Tell us about the women’s ethnic wear segment in India? What has been the ratio of unorganized to organized players in the country?

Who’s your target audience and in this TG, how important is customer satisfaction in each group?

Over 75 percent of their inventory is fresh and less than 45 days old.

India is still at a very nascent stage as far as branded accessories are concerned, and a majority of the stakes are still held by unbranded products coming out of the unorganised retail sector.”

Since then they have expanded the brand through our 2 sub-brands–’lil’ star’ for kids and ‘unknown’ for the cool young men. A further sub-brand, JQ will be launched soon. JQ targets the elegant millennial woman with a collection of high-quality designer jewellry all handcrafted in India. The brand is also working on further expanding their ethnic line from a small range to a full-fledged collection.

Internet penetration has increased in Tier III & IV towns giving them access to clothes via e-commerce. How do you counter the heavy discounting e-tailers have to offer?

“Everyday orders get generated and products are dispatched automatically replenishing at style, color and size level. Agility in supply chain is critical given our major presence in small towns where logistics lead time is more,” says Aiyer, adding, “We also introduced ‘stylus’ at our stores and this gives us real time data on the availability of stocks, not only in the back room but at a nearby store too to satisfy consumer needs.”

In 2016, Sindhu was back with Yonex for a Rs 3.5 crore per year contract for a period of three years.
